Car Crash The Woodlands Texas in The Woodlands, Texas: Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Erika Serrato, 24, was killed early Sunday morning around 2:39 a.m. after a heavy-duty commercial truck pulling a trailer struck her while she was directing traffic at a multi-vehicle crash scene on Interstate 45 in The Woodlands, north of Houston. The truck also hit two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated. Serrato was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. Another deputy was struck by debris and suffered minor injuries. Authorities charged 34-year-old Ashton Jammer, one of the drivers involved in the original crash, with Driving While Intoxicated. The commercial truck driver was also hospitalized, and the fatal crash remains under investigation.
