Car Crash The Woodlands Texas in The Woodlands, Texas: Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Erika Serrato, 24, was killed early Sunday morning around 2:39 a.m. after a heavy-duty commercial truck pulling a trailer struck her while she was directing traffic at a multi-vehicle crash scene on Interstate 45 in The Woodlands, north of Houston. The truck also hit two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated. Deputy Serrato was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries. Another deputy was struck by debris and suffered minor injuries. Ashton Jammer, 34, one of the drivers involved in the original crash, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. The commercial truck driver was also taken to a hospital, and the fatal crash remains under investigation.
