Car Crash Springfield Ohio in Springfield, Ohio: A 17-year-old male driver was seriously injured after a fiery three-vehicle crash in Springfield early Monday morning around 4:50 a.m. Springfield Police responded to the 1200 block of West Columbia Street and found the driver of the burning vehicle on the ground next to it; officers assisted him to safety and rendered aid until medics arrived. The preliminary investigation revealed the teen was traveling the wrong way on West Columbia Street when his vehicle struck a tanker truck carrying approximately 600 pounds of diesel fuel, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The driver of the tanker truck safely backed away from the burning vehicle, and the drivers of the other two vehicles were evaluated at the scene and did not require hospitalization. Eastbound West Columbia Street was closed between North Isabella Street and the crash scene, and the crash remains under investigation by the Springfield Police Division Traffic Unit.
