Car Crash California Today in California: Mario Bickham, 36, of Hawthorne, was driving 112.5 mph on the southbound 405 freeway near the Getty Center on June 23, 2025, when his Nissan struck LAPD Sergeant Shiou Deng, 53, and motorist Jesús Garcia, 34, who were stopped in the HOV lane after Garcia had been the victim of a hit-and-run. Both Deng and Garcia were killed. Prosecutors announced on June 29, 2025, that Bickham was charged with two counts of second-degree murder. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
