Shooting East Haven Connecticut in East Haven, Connecticut: Jose Juan Velasquez Jr., 39, of Meriden, pointed a gun at two juveniles during a verbal confrontation on Main Street in East Haven on Sunday, police said. Velasquez stopped his car in the roadway, displayed a firearm at the juveniles, exited his vehicle while still armed, and then fled the scene. He was taken into custody by officers within minutes after a description of his car was broadcast; a revolver was recovered from inside his car and his pistol permit had expired. He was charged with first-degree threatening, risk of injury to a child, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and was held on a $150,000 bond.
