Assault East Haven Connecticut in East Haven, Connecticut: Jose Juan Velasquez Jr., 39, of Meriden, pointed a gun at two juveniles during a heated confrontation on Main Street in East Haven on Sunday, police said. Velasquez stopped his car in the roadway, engaged in a verbal altercation with the juveniles, pulled out a gun and pointed it at them while still in his car, then exited the vehicle with the gun and challenged them before fleeing the scene. He was taken into custody by officers within minutes after a description of his car was broadcast, and a revolver was recovered from inside the car. Velasquez was charged with first-degree threatening, risk of injury to a child, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and was held on a $150,000 bond.
