Car Crash Cedar Rapids Iowa in Cedar Rapids, Iowa: A Maquoketa woman, identified in court records as Knight, was found guilty of hitting and killing semi truck driver Jayseth Paul. According to the district court verdict, on August 11, 2025, Knight was driving while using her cell phone and unintentionally struck Paul, who had pulled his semi over on the side of Highway 61 to secure his cargo. Investigators determined she would have had 11 seconds to react to Paul's truck and that she was on her phone right before the crash. She was scheduled to be sentenced on June 29, 2026.
