Drowning Irondale Alabama in Irondale, Alabama: A 35-year-old Irondale man drowned in the Cahaba River on Sunday afternoon while attempting to save several children who had become submerged in deep water at the Cahaba Blue Way River Canoe Launch. Authorities said both the adults and children did not know how to swim, and the man also became submerged during the rescue attempt. Irondale Fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deployed drone teams that located his body in the water. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
