Man arrested in Ripon after alleged assault, false imprison…

Assault Ripon Wisconsin in Ripon, Wisconsin: Ripon police responded at 10:35 a.m. on June 19, 2026, to a report of a physical assault. The victim told officers they had been held against their will since the previous night by a knife-wielding man and escaped by crawling to flag down a passerby for help. Police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jared Thurber, set up a perimeter around his South Douglas Street home, and used SWAT teams from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and Fond du Lac Police Department to take him into custody after several hours of negotiation. Thurber was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges referred to the Fond du Lac District Attorney's Office.
