Vehicle Fire Last Year Washington District Of Columbia in Last Year Washington, District of Columbia: A trend report from Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) states that industrial chemical accidents, explosions, and fires reported to the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) grew from 83 in 2021 to 131 in 2025, with accidents involving injuries or fatalities rising from 60 to 89 over the same period and from 73 in 2024. The report cites recent incidents including a chemical tank failure in Garden Grove, California that prompted evacuation of more than 40,000 residents, and the collapse of a chemical tank at a plant in Longview, Washington that killed 11 workers. The release also criticizes Trump administration proposals to weaken accident prevention requirements and eliminate the CSB.
