Fall Injury Maine Today in Maine: A hiker fell about 20 feet on the Knife Edge Trail near Pamola Peak on Maine's Mount Katahdin and suffered an open leg fracture. Baxter State Park rangers reached the hiker and provided medical treatment at the scene, but due to the location and severity of the injury, crews determined a helicopter rescue was needed. Once conditions improved, the hiker was hoisted from the mountain by helicopter and flown to a waiting ambulance on the ground. The hiker's current condition has not been released.
