Pedestrian Hit Fairfax City Virginia in Fairfax City, Virginia: A 20-year-old Fairfax woman, Shaza Edris, was charged with reckless driving in connection with a Dec. 23, 2025, crash that killed 50-year-old Jimmy Patterson on Fairfax County Parkway near Old Plains Road in the Fair Oaks area. Patterson's body was discovered in the grassy median of the parkway around 9:45 a.m. and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later determined Edris was actively using her cell phone when her vehicle struck Patterson, and the driver returned to the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
