Shooting Grantville Georgia in Grantville, Georgia: A driver was killed in a shootout with Coweta County deputies on I-85 South near mile marker 34 in the Grantville area on Monday afternoon. Deputies pulled the man over for a traffic violation around 1:20 p.m., and during a roadside interview he ran back to his vehicle. After deputies tried unsuccessfully to pull him out and tase him, the man retrieved a gun and fired multiple shots at deputies, who returned fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS; no deputies were injured. The sheriff's office requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to conduct an independent review.
