Police Pursuit Crash Colorado Springs Colorado in Colorado Springs, Colorado: Colorado Springs police attempted to contact a gathering of vehicles believed to be related to street racers in the 300 block of North Academy Boulevard near Vickers Drive around 2 a.m. Monday. One vehicle drove recklessly out of the parking lot, accelerated to about 80 mph in a 45 mph zone during a traffic stop, and officers discontinued pursuit near Portal Drive and North Academy Boulevard. The vehicle failed to make a right turn onto eastbound Galley Road, struck a curb, became airborne, and hit a raised concrete parking lot at a business on the northeast corner before stopping. The driver suffered minor injuries and was detained; the passenger was trapped, extricated by Colorado Springs firefighters, and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Colby Hackney, was booked on charges of vehicular eluding resulting in injury, assault, DUI, reckless driving and trespassing.
