Vehicle Fire Of Glendale Colorado in of Glendale, Colorado: Three wildland firefighters were killed Saturday while conducting initial attack operations on the Knowles Fire in western Colorado's Mesa County when fast-moving flames overran the crew, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior. Killed were Nick Hutcherson, 27, of Glendale, Arizona, assigned to the U.S. Forest Service's Kaibab National Forest and part of the U.S. Wildland Fire Service's Rifle Helitack crew; Emily Barker, 38, of Michigan; and Sydney Watson, 26, of Alabama. Two other firefighters suffered burn injuries and remained under medical care. The Knowles and Gore fires later merged with other fires to form the Snyder Fire near the Colorado-Utah border, estimated at 28,000 acres as of Monday. A serious accident investigation team is reviewing the circumstances of the deaths.
