Boating Accident Chicago Illinois in Chicago, Illinois: Two vessels carrying a total of fourteen passengers collided on Lake Michigan late Thursday night just before midnight as they were returning to port near Monroe Harbor or Burnham Harbor in Chicago. One vessel overtook the other, causing the crash, according to Jason Lach, Deputy District Chief of Marine and Dive Operations for the Chicago Fire Department. The collision killed 26-year-old Johanna Gregory, a former student athlete at Gannon University, and injured four other people. Authorities had not yet determined why the boats were out at that hour and were reminding boaters about safety measures such as having knowledgeable operators and life preservers on board.
