Car Crash Texas Today in Texas: A 24-year-old Montgomery County sheriff's deputy was killed when a heavy-duty commercial truck pulling a trailer struck her while she was outside her vehicle directing traffic at the scene of a suspected drunk-driving crash on Interstate 45 North near the Woodlands Parkway exit in Montgomery County, north of Houston. The crash occurred at about 2:39 a.m. Sunday. The truck also struck two marked patrol vehicles with emergency lights activated. Deputy Erika Serrato was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. Another deputy suffered minor injuries from debris and was treated and released. The driver of the commercial truck was also hospitalized; his condition and any potential charges were not immediately released. One of the drivers involved in the initial crash, 34-year-old Ashton Jammer, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
