Aircraft Hillsboro Oregon in Hillsboro, Oregon: A 49-year-old pilot, Keith Urwin of Warren, died on June 12, 2026, when his single-engine small plane crashed during takeoff around 3 p.m. near Hillsboro, Oregon. Witnesses told NTSB investigators the nose wheel lifted and then dropped back down, the engine sound changed, and the plane appeared to be braking as it continued down the runway before briefly regaining power, disappearing behind terrain, and crashing. Dashcam video showed the plane leaving the runway at a steep angle, rolling left, and hitting the ground with its left wing before cartwheeling and catching fire. The NTSB released a preliminary report on the crash.
