Pedestrian Hit Lakeland Florida in Lakeland, Florida: On June 28, 2026, at approximately 12:37 a.m., a pedestrian entered the path of a southbound black Mitsubishi SUV in the 5700 block of State Road 33 in Lakeland, Florida, and was struck. Lakeland Police, Polk County Fire Rescue, and the Lakeland Fire Department responded and provided life-saving measures before the pedestrian was transported to Lakeland Regional Health, where she was pronounced dead. The Mitsubishi driver was not injured. The Lakeland Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash, and the roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours.
