South Bend Police responded to the area of McKinley Avenue and Manchester Drive around 10:30 p.m. and found a vehicle had struck an empty tow truck parked in a parking lot. The passenger suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to the hospital with no major injuries. Following a preliminary investigation, the driver was arrested, and the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is leading the investigation.
