Assault City Connecticut in city, Connecticut: Juan Ortiz, 46, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, and fifth-degree larceny after a robbery and slashing in New Haven on Friday morning. Police said Ortiz and two other men confronted a victim at an apartment on the 300 block of Howard Avenue just before 9 a.m., and Ortiz slashed the victim's face and ear with a pocketknife. The victim was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and Ortiz was held on a $500,000 bond.
