Pedestrian Hit Atlanta Georgia in Atlanta, Georgia: A 28-year-old driver, Marie Bahindwa, struck and killed a female pedestrian on Courtland Street NE at Auburn Avenue NE in downtown Atlanta shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday. Atlanta police said the pedestrian was crossing Courtland Street near the crosswalk when a southbound Jeep Wrangler hit her, and medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver remained on the scene and was charged with homicide by vehicle, DUI, DUI-less safe, reckless driving, and open container violation. The Fulton County medical examiner withheld the victim's identity pending notification of next of kin.
