A preliminary investigation determined he was shot during an attempted robbery in the 6700 block of Dicks Avenue in West Philadelphia. Upon arrival, police located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene; officers transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:28 a.m. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
