Swansboro man dies in single-vehicle accident in Hertford

Car Crash Hertford North Carolina in Hertford, North Carolina: A 58-year-old Swansboro man was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Hertford on Thursday afternoon. Michael Karl was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck towing a boat trailer on N.C. Highway 17 when, for reasons unknown, he ran off the road and struck the 'Welcome to Hertford' sign and a concrete pylon. The vehicle came to rest in the parking lot of the ABC store at 803 S Church St. Emergency responders attempted first aid but Karl was declared dead at the scene; investigators requested a standard toxicology report.
