Car Crash Blue Island Illinois in Blue Island, Illinois: A passenger vehicle and an Illinois Department of Transportation SUV were stopped on the left shoulder of northbound Interstate 57 near 127th Street in Blue Island when a third vehicle struck them at approximately 4:46 a.m. Saturday. One person was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead from their injuries. An IDOT worker sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both northbound lanes were shut down for the crash investigation, with traffic diverted to the right shoulder.
