Hit And Run Blue Island Illinois in Blue Island, Illinois: A deadly crash involving an Illinois Department of Transportation vehicle impacted northbound Interstate 57 traffic in Blue Island on Saturday morning, Illinois State Police said. Troopers responded to the crash on northbound I-57 at 127th Street near the Calumet River around 4:45 a.m. Investigators believe a passenger vehicle and an IDOT SUV had been involved in a crash and pulled over to the left shoulder, where another vehicle struck them. One person was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and an IDOT worker was injured and hospitalized.
