Bicycle Crash Eugene Oregon in Eugene, Oregon: Steven Ronald Fischer, 25, of Eugene, Oregon, was identified by a Street Crimes Unit officer as the primary suspect in a string of vehicle thefts. On May 20, Fischer was driving a stolen full-sized truck when he struck a 40-year-old woman riding a bicycle, running her over and causing extensive injuries that required multiple surgeries and will likely need years of physical therapy. Fischer fled the scene after the crash. Investigators linked him to the thefts through a storage unit rental in his name and recovered property from multiple stolen vehicles. Fischer was booked into the Lane County Jail on multiple counts including unlawful use of a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, failure to perform duties of a driver to injured persons, and third-degree assault.
