Hit And Run Coventry Rhode Island in Coventry, Rhode Island: A Connecticut man identified as Roy accepted a plea deal after being accused of hitting a police officer with his car on a Coventry bike path in June 2024. Officers had been called to the Coventry Greenway (Trestle Trail) at Lewis Farm Road to break up a gathering near the Old Rail Bridge, and as officers approached, a vehicle drove off and struck one of the officers. The officer was brought to Kent Hospital for treatment, and Roy was taken into custody in Connecticut the next day. In exchange for the plea, two other charges — driving to endanger resulting in physical injury and duty to stop in an accident resulting in serious bodily injury — were dismissed.
