Burglary suspect shot and killed by deputy in Madera County…
Shooting Madera California in Madera, California: On a Friday afternoon in June 2026, Madera County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a residential burglary in progress in Madera County, California. The burglary suspect, Gregory Anguiano, forcibly entered and ransacked a home before being confronted by a deputy. During the ensuing struggle, Anguiano took the deputy's TASER and fired it at her, embedding both probes into her body, then attempted to remove the deputy's firearm. Community members stopped to assist the deputy, who was able to retrieve her firearm and shoot Anguiano. Despite life-saving measures, Anguiano died at the scene. The deputy was treated for minor injuries by EMS and released. Detectives also announced that Anguiano's wife, Claudia Anguiano, last seen June 15, is presumed missing. The Fresno Sheriff's Office was requested to conduct the coroner investigation under California's officer-involved shooting protocol.
