Hit And Run Bayville New Jersey in Bayville, New Jersey: A Seaside Park woman, Genell A. McInaw, 52, struck and killed Robert "Bob" Popovics, owner of Shady Rest restaurant on Route 9 in Bayville, in a drunken hit-and-run in November 2024. Surveillance video showed McInaw driving a gray sedan from a nearby parking lot two minutes before Popovics was found seriously injured in the road; he was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and died. Police located McInaw's car at her home with windshield damage, and she admitted stopping briefly but not exiting before driving home. McInaw's blood alcohol concentration was .187, with an expert estimating .21 at the time of the crash; she was indicted in May 2025 on charges including vehicular homicide and knowingly leaving the scene, and was sentenced in June 2026 to five years in prison under the No Early Release Act.
