Report on accident involving Parkersburg mayor released
Car Crash Parkersburg West Virginia in Parkersburg, West Virginia: An accident report filed by the Parkersburg Police Department says Mayor Tom Joyce opened the door of a city-owned 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe into traffic at an intersection, and it was struck by a passing 2020 Nissan Altima driven by Waverly resident Ashlee Coleman on June 16. Joyce was listed in the report as an 'occupant of a motor vehicle not in transport' because he was parked and exiting the vehicle. Joyce said he submitted to a drug test, which is standard policy for accidents involving municipal vehicles, and denied consuming alcohol while driving a city vehicle in his nine-and-a-half years as mayor. The report noted Coleman was in apparently normal condition with no suspected alcohol or drug use.
