Vehicle Fire North Port Florida in North Port, Florida: A house fire occurred around 3:40 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Koltenborn Road in the Awater area of North Port, Florida. Firefighters pulled an elderly man from the flames through a window and transported him to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The house was a total loss, and an unknown number of pets were killed, including chinchillas, guinea pigs, quail, chickens, canaries, turtles, rabbits, fish, and other animals, while four dogs and 10 cats were taken into custody by Sarasota County Animal Control along with the bodies of two cats and a rabbit. The homeowner, Ducheney, said she was not home when the fire started and believes it was caused by an outlet sparking.
