Pedestrian Hit California Today in California: A California Department of Parks and Recreation lifeguard on patrol accidentally drove over a 20-year-old woman who was sunbathing on the sand at Francis Beach, part of Half Moon Bay State Beach, on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 24. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, Coastside Fire, and State Park Peace Officers responded to the Kelly Avenue area of the beach. The woman was taken to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Initial reports indicated the lifeguard driver may have been distracted.
