The incident occurred April 17, when police attempted to stop Miguel Angel Pacheco for allegedly running a stop sign and not having a registration plate on his dirt bike. Pacheco, 33, sped away from officers until he crashed his bike, then fled on foot toward Yellow Breeches Creek in Cumberland County, where he jumped into the creek and attempted to swim away before an officer followed him in and detained him. Pacheco was taken to a hospital for injuries he sustained in the dirt bike crash, and a blood test indicated he had cocaine and marijuana in his system; he was charged with fleeing a police officer along with several DUI and traffic-related offenses.
