Dui Crash North Carolina Today in North Carolina: Brooklyn Carroll, a 10-year-old girl, died and an adult family friend lost a leg after an alcohol-impaired boat operator drove into them while they were in the water near an anchored boat on Shearon Harris Lake in Chatham County, North Carolina, last August. The propeller struck both victims; Brooklyn died from her injuries and the adult had a leg amputated. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission cited the incident as it announced increased water patrols statewide ahead of the July 4 holiday as part of Operation Dry Water, a national campaign to reduce impaired boating.
