Bicycle Crash Fort Lauderdale Florida in Fort Lauderdale, Florida: A 22-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly striking and killing a bicyclist in a hit-and-run collision on the 17th Street Causeway bridge in Fort Lauderdale. The collision occurred at 6:40 a.m. on Thursday when a black vehicle struck 68-year-old Shelley Lewis in the eastbound protected bicycle lane and fled the scene. Paramedics transported Lewis to a nearby hospital, where she died. Fort Lauderdale police identified and arrested Don Janea Smith on Friday, charging her with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, with additional charges possible.
