Governor Stitt reacts to grand jury report involving Sara P…
Dui Crash Residential Oklahoma in residential, Oklahoma: On Feb. 7, 2023, Sara Polston, who was intoxicated and speeding, struck 20-year-old Micaela Borrego's vehicle at a residential intersection, launching Borrego's car off the road into the brick wall of a house. Polston's vehicle data showed she was traveling 66 mph in a 25 mph zone four seconds before impact, and her blood alcohol content was nearly double the legal limit. Borrego suffered extensive and permanent injuries. Polston was convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison for causing an accident resulting in great bodily injury while driving under the influence, but was released to a GPS program after serving only 73 days. A Multi-County Grand Jury later examined the Oklahoma Department of Corrections' GPS program and Polston's case, raising concerns about Governor Kevin Stitt's involvement in her early release, though the grand jury found no criminal wrongdoing by DOC or the Governor's Office.
