Assault Las Vegas Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada: Former youth pastor and Las Vegas-based yoga instructor David Vander Meer died while in custody at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, just days after being arrested by U.S. Marshals for allegedly murdering his wife Bernadette Vander Meer. He was taken to University Medical Center on Wednesday for self-sustained injuries and died Thursday, with his death pending investigation by the Clark County Office of the Coroner. He had been in custody since June 22 and was a fugitive from another state. He had been charged with murder and insurance fraud in connection with the 2006 death of his wife, who investigators say fell while hiking with him at Zion National Park in Utah, a death originally ruled accidental but considered suspicious.
