Car Crash Oklahoma City Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: An Air Force Special Operations Command OA-1K Skyraider II turboprop plane crashed in October 2025 on a rural road outside Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a student pilot mistakenly turned off the fuel shutoff valve while the plane was at 2,300 feet, causing engine fuel starvation and power loss. The instructor pilot took over controls as the plane descended, and the aircraft skidded to a halt in an empty nearby field with a stop sign lodged in its wing. Neither the student pilot nor the civilian instructor pilot in the rear cockpit was injured. The Air Force accident investigation board's final report, released in June 2026, blamed the student pilot's inadvertent mistake; the $17 million Skyraider II, assigned to the 17th Special Operations Squadron at Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, was a total loss.
