Hit And Run South Carolina Today in South Carolina: A 19-year-old contract utility worker was killed and another was injured in a hit-and-run crash in a work zone in Aiken, South Carolina. Just after 5:45 a.m., an unknown vehicle traveling west on Rutland Drive struck two utility workers at the intersection with Northland Boulevard and fled the scene. One worker was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:27 a.m., while the other was transported to Wellstar MCG Health as a trauma alert. Charles Blase Engasser, of Aiken, later turned himself in to Aiken Public Safety and was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center on a charge of hit and run – fatality.
