Hit And Run South Carolina Today in South Carolina: A 19-year-old contract utility worker was killed and another was injured in a hit-and-run crash in a work zone in Aiken, South Carolina. Just after 5:45 a.m., an unknown vehicle traveling west on Rutland Drive struck two contract utility workers at the intersection with Northland Boulevard and left the scene. One worker was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:27 a.m., while the other was transported as a trauma alert to Wellstar MCG Health. Charles Blase Engasser, of Aiken, later turned himself in and was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center on a charge of hit and run – fatality. The Aiken County Coroner's Office and Aiken Department of Public Safety are continuing the investigation.
