Shooting Green Bay Wisconsin in Green Bay, Wisconsin: Ji-Gwe-Mko Layton, 19, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide for the Aug. 16, 2025 shooting of a 60-year-old Wood County man on Highway 172 in Green Bay. According to the criminal complaint, police responded to the ramp from State 172 westbound to Interstate 41 southbound at 12:30 p.m. for a crash in which a pickup truck went into a ditch and a male fled the scene with a rifle. Layton allegedly told officers he killed the man because he feared the victim was going to rob his safe while he was at work, and he directed deputies to the crashed red pickup where the victim and the handgun were found. An autopsy listed the victim's cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds. A status conference in the case is scheduled for September.
