Car Crash Ariel Washington in Ariel, Washington: A 17-year-old volunteer firefighter, Riggin Bliss, was driving southbound on Lewis River Road in Ariel, Washington, when another driver traveling northbound crossed into his lane and struck him head-on. Bliss was trapped in his truck for about 20 minutes before being extricated and was hospitalized in the ICU. The other driver, 76-year-old John Jessup of La Center, was LifeFlighted to a local hospital and charged with vehicular assault by Washington State Patrol. Bliss's older brother, Charlie Silvis, a fellow volunteer firefighter, responded to the crash and helped treat both victims at the scene.
