Car Crash Wisconsin Today in Wisconsin: UW Health and the Dane County Traffic Safety Commission warned of a sharp rise in e-bike and e-scooter injuries, particularly among children and teenagers. According to commission data, e-bike and motor vehicle crashes in Wisconsin increased 194% between 2022 and 2025, with injuries rising 171%, while e-scooter crashes increased 260% and injuries climbed 240%. UW Health reported that emergency department visits at American Family Children's Hospital involving patients younger than 18 riding e-bikes, e-scooters or similar electric devices jumped from six during April-May 2025 to 35 during the same period in 2026, a 483% increase. An emergency medicine physician said many injured riders were not wearing helmets or were distracted while riding.
