Semi Truck Crash Clear Lake Iowa in Clear Lake, Iowa: Two people escaped an SUV before it became engulfed in flames following a collision with a semi in north Iowa. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 170th Street and Grouse Avenue, just south of Clear Lake. Gregg Wunder, 45, of Kanawha, Iowa, was driving the SUV along 170th Street when he attempted to make a left turn onto Grouse Avenue, waited for a vehicle to pass, but did not see the semi coming over the hill. The SUV struck the side of the semi, spun into a ditch, and landed on its driver's side; Wunder and a 14-year-old passenger escaped before the SUV caught fire, and both were taken to Mercy One North Iowa Hospital for possible injuries. The semi driver was not injured.
