Semi Truck Crash Clear Lake Iowa in Clear Lake, Iowa: Two people escaped an SUV before it became engulfed in flames following a collision with a semi in north Iowa. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 170th Street and Grouse Avenue, just south of Clear Lake. According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office, Gregg Wunder, 45, of Kanawha, Iowa, was driving the SUV along 170th Street when he attempted to make a left turn onto Grouse Avenue, waited for a vehicle to pass, but did not see the semi coming over the hill. The SUV struck the side of the semi, causing the SUV to spin into a ditch and land on its driver's side; Wunder and a 14-year-old passenger escaped before the SUV became fully engulfed in flames and both were taken to Mercy One North Iowa Hospital for possible injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
