The Durango, driven by Francisco Davila Jr., was speeding and attempted an unsafe lane change, causing it to collide with the tractor-trailer, lose control, and roll over. Ramirez initially stayed at the scene but later left before officers finished their investigation; he was tracked down in Hidalgo and arrested on two counts of collision involving serious bodily injury and four counts of collision involving injury. Davila Jr. suffered a cut on his right eyebrow, and his daughter was lying on the road with injuries; multiple injured people were transported to various hospitals.
