Proper memorial reinstalled for victims of 1982 tragedy
Dui Crash Woonsocket Rhode Island in Woonsocket, Rhode Island: On June 19, 1982, three graduating seniors — Denise Allard, David Adams, and Drew Deziel — were killed instantly when a drunk driver being pursued by the Bellingham Police Department smashed head-on into Adams' car at the intersection of Diamond Hill Road and Walnut Hill Road in Woonsocket. The drunk driver fled on foot and was found hiding in the woods by Deziel's uncle, a Woonsocket police officer. A separate fatal crash at the same intersection six years ago killed motorcyclist Johnathan Blain and seriously injured his passenger. A new memorial for the 1982 victims was recently unveiled in a ceremony attended by Mayor Christopher Beauchamp.
