Marathon County man charged with fifth OWI after crash into…

Dui Crash Wisconsin Today in Wisconsin: Samuel Thomas Welch, 29, is charged with operating while intoxicated, fifth or sixth offense, after he crashed a pickup truck into a power pole on Sugar Bush Road in the town of Emmet, Marathon County, on June 18. A witness reported the crash and said Welch left the scene with his wife in a white vehicle; a deputy later found Welch at his home about a quarter-mile away. The pickup had significant front-end damage and broken windows, and the power pole was severely broken and leaning into nearby trees. Welch, who has four prior OWI convictions, was free on bond after the complaint was filed June 19.
