Man caught in wreck saves dog from burning semi on I-64

A semitrailer veered from its lane into a dump truck driven by Kris Pelfrey and his boss, dragging the truck 400 feet and nearly catapulting it over the median. Pelfrey escaped his vehicle and attempted to rescue the semi's driver, Jeffrey Simons, 63, of Iowa, but could not rouse him; Simons died in the incident. Pelfrey did manage to pull a dog from the burning semitrailer before police took the animal to a shelter.
